“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” – John 15:15

This is an inspirational verse for me. In context, this was said by Jesus to His disciples during the Last Supper before His arrest. How amazing is this? We actually are friends with the Creator of the Heavens & the Earth. Honestly, this is difficult to embrace for me. For most of my life I’ve had a servant mentality when it comes to God. Yet, I want to believe what Jesus said, as He is the speaker of Truth.

The Lord is both Holy & full of Grace. I want to have a reverence toward God because I believe in His Authority. Yet, He is our Heavenly Father, who wants a good relationship with His children. Solomon wrote in Proverbs that the beginning of wisdom starts with a healthy respect for God (fear of the Lord). Of course, I need wisdom & discernment with the Lord’s help to navigate this world.

I chose this verse today because I feel it is an incredible way of viewing how much Jesus loves us. I apologize if I haven’t wrapped my head around what for me is a mystery. Our Heavenly Father, our Savior, & our Creator, states in His Word that we are considered friends. Is this not to be taken lightly? Is it to cause rejoice? Maybe a bit of both, depending on the situation. Either way, I’m going to try my best to be thankful & joyous of all the Lord has done & who He truly is.
