“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” – John 6:38I know that there have been many times I’ve done my own thing. Even as a follower of Jesus, any time I don’t focus on God & ask Him for His will over my life, I seem to drift into my own little fallen world. It may seem comfortable at times, yet what if that is an illusion, & the true measure of a person’s life is how much they seek the will of God in their day to day? Only Jesus has come down from Heaven & has perfectly done the will of His Father. I feel as believers we are called to ask for guidance in the way we can spend the limited time we have in this life with Him. We are adopted into the family of God by faith in His Son. When I’m humble & in my right mind, I realize I owe my life to God, & it is an honor to try & do what the Lord wants me to do. In the Scripture, Jesus tells us that He is in the Father, & we are in Him. From what I understand, this bridges the gap & allows us to communicate through prayer & do good things in our lives & in this world. With all this said, John 6:38 tells us how Jesus taught, “Not my Will, but the Father’s will be done.” We owe everything to God, & that is worthy of giving all that we can for a purpose much greater than anything we could do on our own. |
